I had a Double Diamond quite recently.

Someone (forget who) revived it as a real ale, following the old recipe with reasonable quality ingredients instead of (I'm guessing) the cheapest possible ones. And not fucking pasteurising it.

I quite liked it.

The words "I quite like Double Diamond" are ones I never thought I'd say.

Ha ha, I remember that. Used to love a Grolsch, didn't bother with the bottle top thing. Was all slip on loafers for going out back then.

On my 21st at our local pub they ploughed me with what was named a Talbot Tornado followed by the deadly Depth Charge! The Tornado was coke, orange juice and a shot from every bottle from the top row! Was positively pissed!!

Stout and Mild. Like drinking syrup, especially if the stout was Mackeson.

Guinness and tomato juice. Like drinking meat stew.

Both guaranteed to put hairs on your chest

Grolsch was all the rage for 5 minutes in the eighties (what was the thing with the bottle tops being stuck on your shoes? )

Anyone still know if Davy’s Old Wallop is still sold. Used to be in a few city pubs back in the day. Fairly lethal If I recall.

A "Scotch Mist" was another i used to get fucked on.

Single Malt and a Cointreau in a brandy glass.

Set the cunt alight and then put your palm over the glass, which puts out the flame and creates a vacuum, sucking your palm firmly to the glass.

You can then lift raise your hand, give it a good shake, before popping open the seal and necking the warm contents.

Can go wrong in lots of ways!

In the late nineties when i used to spend lots of time in the Jack Horner on Tottenham Ct road, we used to have pints of Black Muppet.

1/2 Cider
1/2 Guinness
Vodka
Cointreau
Tia Maria
dash of black currant

They were £9 a pint then and it would only take 2 or 3 pints and you'd be fucked. tasted like fruit juice...lethal.

Not alcoholic but was Jolt cola or similar a thing?

Some of the ones I remember from my early pub/baz vegas days in the mid-late 90s:

Oranjeboom
Skol
20/20 (more for the park!)
White lightning (also park)
Special brew
Aftershock (is it still around?)

I still make myself the odd snakebite at home, though I seem to have grown out of the 'black' these days. I remember all the local pubs banned it due to the trouble it caused, was always miffed with that seeing how much we consumed at Uni.

That Barley wine is fucking lethal, took one swig and that was enough for me

There was also a Tennants pilsner on draught which was a fair bit weaker than the Extra.
A Charrington house near me sold both in the 90s together with Toby Bitter which seemed to go down well.
Gold label Barley wine was a potent brew but very much an acquired taste.

1664 and Stella just taste of chemicals to me, as does Peroni.

Re: Alcoholic drinks that no-one drinks any more...
It's the same amount of alcohol, but diluted.

It's like if you had a double whisky neat, or a double whisky mixed with a pint of water.

Re: Alcoholic drinks that no-one drinks any more...
Can anyone explain how you can drink 5 pints of fosters, Carling etc and not feel pissed (4%) but 4 pints of 1664/Stella and you are half cut?

It’s the same amount of alcohol.
